Description of BNSS Section 213 - Cognizance of offences by Courts of Session.
Except as otherwise expressly provided by this Sanhita or by any other law for the time being in force, no Court of Session shall take cognizance of any offence as a Court of original jurisdiction unless the case has been committed to it by a Magistrate under this Sanhita
Offence | Refusing to sign a statement made to a public servant when legally required to do so. |
Punishment | imprisonment for a term which may extend to three months, or with fine which may extend to three thousand rupees, or with both. |
Cognizance | Non-cognizable |
Bail | Bailable |
Triable | The Court in which the offence is committed, subject to the provisions of Chapter XXVI; or, if not committed in a Court, any Magistrate. |
